Sandra McKenzie Schmitt has been a working artist since 1973, first showing her figurative sculpture at Gallery 10 in New York City in the same year. In 1964, she received her M.A. in intaglio printmaking from University of Iowa under the direction of Mauricio Lasansky. Receiving her M.F.A. from Bradley University in May 2000, her emphasis was ceramic sculpture with additional work in bronze, stone carving, and metal fabrication. Sandra’s sculpture is currently represented in over twenty galleries throughout the United States.

Sandra owned her own retail gallery in Frenchtown, New Jersey from 1988 – 1992, and relocated to Richmond, Virginia from 1992 – 1994. Sandra presently owns McKenzie River Pottery, a gallery in Washington, Illinois representing clay artists across the United States and from central Illinois.

All casseroles are made from high fired red stoneware.  They are dishwasher, oven and microwave safe with lead-free glaze.  Each piece is individually handmade, so size and look may vary.  Did you know Julia Child owned one of Sandra’s Casseroles?

Sandra also has sculptures and nativity scenes, so be sure to ask about what else is available.
