A graduate of Florida State University, Phil Turk studied photography in the university’s Bachelor of Fine Arts program. Since FSU he has focused more on artistic expression rather than commercial technique. Turk has been able to explore a myriad of photographic concepts and ideas, creating a variety of techniques that provide him with his own eclectic photographic style.
In his travels throughout California in the ’70’s Turk bumped into the late Ansel Adams at a gas station north of Big Sur and came away from their brief discussion deeply inspired by Adams’ advice to “follow your own vision”. The visions Turk subsequently developed represent a curious perspective of the photographic image, residing in interpretation somewhere between fantasy and reality.
Turk is an award winning artist whose work is published and exhibited worldwide.
