Devon’s love of art began as soon as she was able to hold a crayon. Her mother recalls that she would draw on anything, including a freshly painted wall. At two, she received a “Little Tyke’s art table” and was so eager to get to it after a bath that she ran to her table before getting dressed. Soon she was climbing up to her mother’s art table; and, today, she has her own.
In 7th grade Devon was invited and participated in the “Youth Art Month” at the Pennsylvania Department of Education in Harrisburg. Recently she took first place in the Junior High division at the Junior and Senior High School 2012 Annual Juried Art Exhibit at the Yocum Institute for Arts Education. She has also been accepted into adult juried shows.
At 15, now in 9th grade, Devon has acquired her own style of detailed ink drawings and also specializes in oil landscapes, some painted on found wood. The ink drawings are often created while sitting at her school lunch table.
Devon serves as the president of the Select Craft art club at Boyertown Junior High West and also has been voted as “Most Artistic” in the 2012 West yearbook. Her other activities include singing, song-writing, and playing guitar. Devon looks ahead to an exciting career in art.
