I’ve always been fascinated with nature, and with making things.  I love to spend time in Pennsylvania’s woods studying nature’s intricate details.  I’ve also worked with exotic plants at my job in Exeter, PA.  Much of my inspiration comes from the form, balance and detail of plants and their environment.  I started working with metal in 2003, and was fortunate to have access to welding and plasma cutting equipment.  I like to test my skills, creating intricately detailed silhouettes of plants.

As my work evolves, I’m creating more three-dimensional sculpture.  These pieces are reflections of my exploration of abandoned industrial things.  Abandoned, unglorified metal structures, entropically overgrown with the quiet, unstoppable beauty of nature represent a yin and yang that transcends time.  Their fiery casting in forges and their rigid geometry clashes with their present state of peaceful respite; home to plants of delicate and intricate form at the edge of nature and civilization.  I find comfort in metals for their solid permanence, and beauty in their subtle textures and patinas.
